Outer Banks Renewed by Netflix for a 5th Season

Outer Banks, it's time to bring it home for the very final time. On Monday, November 4, the co-creators and executive producers of the adolescent adventure series, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, announced that Netflix has renewed the series for a fifth and final season. A letter titled "Dispatch to all Pogues" was sent out by the trio, and it was distributed on Instagram. This letter verified the news.

"During the summer of 2017, seven years ago, we came across a photograph of a group of adolescents walking along a beach at nightfall while there was a power outage. The letter started off by saying, "That photograph inspired me to think of a story about four best friends who want nothing more than to have a good time all the time." We envisioned a mystery that would lead to a trip of adventure, treasure hunting, and camaraderie that would span five seasons, and this was the beginning of our quest.

The three said that at the time, it appeared “impossible” that the program would go on to tell a five-season tale, noting that season 4 was the “longest and hardest” but also “most rewarding” to make. The first episode of the fourth season, which was released a month ago, made its debut on Netflix at the top of the worldwide top 10 English television shows, and it has been there ever since. The back half of season 4 is slated to debut on the streamer Thursday, November 7.

In the letter that was sent out on Monday, the Pate siblings and Burke disclosed that the last episode of the fourth season will be a "feature length episode." They stated that they think this episode to be Outer Banks' "best, most powerful episode" to far, and they emphasised that they hope you share their sentiments.

The co-creators then switched to what lies ahead of the series: “Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago.”

In the final part of the letter, it was confirmed that the fifth season will be the final season, and ideally the "best" season of all of them. “We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break,” they said.

The message was signed “P4L,” meaning “Pogues For Life.”

Shortly after news surfaced, Chase Stokes, who appears as John B. on the series, rushed to social media to address the fans. “My hearts heavy writing this one. One last ride,” he wrote via Instagram alongside a copy of the “Dispatch” note. “Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you It’s always gonna be Pogues 4 Life. -JBR.”

Outer Banks

Outer Banks, which began in April 2020, follows a North Carolina beach town separated into two subcategories, Pogues and Kooks, who are both on a quest for hidden wealth. The series stars Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey and Austin North.

While Outer Banks’ first three seasons center on the Pogues and their pursuit for the Royal Merchant gold and El Dorado, season 4 draws them back into the treasure hunt game after squandering all their winnings. When they’re given with the chance to unearth Blackbeard’s hidden treasure, the crew jumps right into their next adventure, putting them against new opponents, uncovering stunning new facts and hurling them into their most hazardous quest yet.

Outer Banks season 4 part 2 drops on Netflix Thursday, November 7. Seasons 1-4 part 1 are presently accessible to stream.
